INTRODUCTION

Tokyo Auxilia Co., Ltd. was established in November 2012 for the purpose of helping international students of Japanese language to gain hands-on, real-world experiences while living in Japan. Tokyo Auxilia (“auxilia” comes from the Latin word auxilium, which means “to help and support”) connects these students with internships at Japanese companies to facilitate beneficial relationships for the purposes of professional development and cultural exchange by both parties. Students have the opportunity to learn first-hand what it’s like to work for a Japanese company, using their Japanese language skills, while companies benefit from the unique strengths and skills that bright, motivated, and cross-culturally savvy interns bring to their businesses, particularly if the company is looking to expand its reach beyond Japan.
